On “Static Bloom”, Kit Marrow stops trying to be polite. The Bristol songwriter has spent the last eighteen months releasing careful, melodic bedroom pop, but here he plugs straight into an overdriven amplifier and lets the chords scrape.

The rhythm section is lean and impatient, driving Marrow’s vocal through a verse that barely pauses for breath. When the chorus arrives, it hits with the sudden, welcome clarity of cool air.
